Job description

Our client is a highly innovative surveying and engineering company with over 60 years of industry experience serving clients throughout the US and Caribbean.  We are looking for a Survey Manager for Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Gainesville, and/or Lakeland.

As a Survey Manager, you are accountable for the overall surveying procedures for large projects and specific clients within an assigned region.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Manage and coordinate surveying procedures and processes, including survey employees and survey subcontractors to ensure projects are surveyed correctly in order to meet or exceed project requirements

  • Plan and ensure the execution of land surveys and other survey related documents, sign and seal surveys

  • Interpret survey field notes to prepare certified boundary surveys, topographic surveys, right-of-way control surveys and other survey related documents. Process and verify the accuracy and sufficiency of collected data

  • Provide everyday supervision of assigned survey field crew on quality and survey methodology, and gather all necessary information needed to meet the survey requirements

  • Assist Director and Vice President of Surveying with business development, client management and preparation of proposals

  • Monitor projects while interfacing with clients on technical matters.

  • Prepare and maintain project progress and status reports, letters, files and other documentation related to projects

  • Schedule and order survey materials and/or equipment to ensure project timelines are met

  • Analyze and interpret technical information and/or property descriptions for surveying or related operations

  • Provide land boundary and surveying related expert testimony in court cases.

  • Utilize Civil3D, Trimble Business Center and other industry related software as needed to complete projects

  • Understand and support Pickett’s safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment

Job requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or equivalent work experience in survey or civil engineering environment (required)

  • 10+ years of experience in responsible charge of all aspects of surveying and mapping (required)

  • Professional Surveyor and Mapper license (PSM or PLS) (required)

  • Understanding of the power and utility industry (preferred)

  • A valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to our company insurance provider is a condition of initial and continued employment (required)

  • Ability to work in a safe manner and obey safety regulations at all times

  • Proficient with latest version of Civil3D and other surveying and mapping software

  • Proficient in running and adjusting various survey instruments including GPS equipment, levels, and robotic total stations with electronic data capabilities

  • Proficient in technical math, including Geometry and Trigonometry

  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Google Earth, Trimble business center, GIS and GPS

  • Extensive knowledge of survey and mapping principles, practices, standards, procedures and project management

  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of photogrammetric mapping, LiDAR and other remote sensing

  • Must be highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have the ability to work under pressure and meet fixed deadlines on a timely basis and have the ability to work both as an individual contributor and within a team environment

  • Ability to travel as needed
