Job Summary

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Supervisor of Program Services is responsible for leading, coordinating, and managing educational programs at Step by Step. This role ensures that all programs reflect the organization’s Vision, Mission, and Mandate, and meet the holistic needs of children and families through inclusive, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate practices.

As a senior leader, the Supervisor of Program Services plays a key role in shaping team cohesion, mentoring educators, ensuring program excellence, and guiding inclusive practices in collaboration with families, resource teams, and classroom staff.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all program staff, supporting the implementation of high-quality early childhood education.

  • Foster strong team dynamics, ensuring respectful collaboration and clear communication among staff, families, and stakeholders.

  • Coordinate professional development for educators, aligned with current best practices and cultural priorities.

  • Support inclusive and individualized program planning for children with varying needs, in collaboration with the Resource Team.

  • Ensure adherence to Step by Step’s internal policies, quality standards, and child development frameworks.

  • Participate in strategic planning and represent Step by Step in relevant partnerships and networks.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement across all program teams.

Job requirements

Qualification Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Teaching Certificate (Brevet d’enseignement)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in inclusive early childhood education

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a childcare or education setting

  • Certification in Childcare Management is an asset

  • Valid CPR, First Aid, and Epi-Pen certification

  • Circle of Security training (or willingness to obtain)

  • Clean criminal record in areas relevant to working with children

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills

  • Ability to lead with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism

  • Experience supporting children with disabilities and social-emotional challenges

  • Deep understanding of early childhood curriculum development and inclusive practices

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant management tools

  • Knowledge of Kanien’kéha culture and language is an asset; willingness to learn is essential

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset
