Job description
The Senior Project Engineer (Utilities-IV) is responsible for directing the engineering design team in a variety of Water/Wastewater and general public facility projects throughout the entire cycle from initial concept through successful completion. This role involves coordinating the efforts of the engineering team, contractors, and project managers to achieve project goals efficiently. The Project Engineer will ensure all aspects of the project design, from planning to final delivery, are met within budget and meeting the required quality standards.
Duties/Responsibilities
Lead/manage the planning, design, and production of lift station, pipeline and/or Water/Wastewater treatment systems, overseeing others and providing Project Managers with scopes, ensuring alignment with goals, schedules, and budget
Lead the design group during the conceptual phase of product development following client standards and templates
Direct development of an action plan and estimate requirements for resources management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project
Development of deliverables including plans, design reports and technical specifications
Supervision of junior engineers in evaluation of shop drawings, and oversight of construction administration duties as the Engineer of Record
Monitor progress of development project and compare actual costs with estimates
Prepare monthly reports detailing progress and costs for next level management
Work with Project Managers to develop scope and manhour estimates for various projects
Review and study existing equipment, facilities, systems, and processes to improve efficiency, increase quality, and reduce costs
Periodic travel to perform business development, project management, site investigations, and construction observation
Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external clients
Job requirements
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with Deltek VantagePoint and Smartsheet or similar platforms
Ability to effectively lead and inspire a team
Comfortable working and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team
Excellent oral, written, and organizational skills
Knowledge of codes and design and construction practices
Detail oriented, quality conscious, reliable and self-motivated
Education and Experience
B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering with a P.E. License in the state of Florida
At least 8+ years of relevant experience in a consulting engineering firm with 2+ years with an active P.E. license
Strong knowledge of engineering principles, project management and industry standards as it relates to pipeline, lift station, and/or Water/Wastewater facility design
This role requires 4 days per week in office.
