Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Architect to join their Miami team, supporting a growing portfolio of civic and public-sector projects. This role is ideal for a licensed architect who enjoys leading technically sound, community-impact projects from concept through construction and collaborating within an integrated A/E/S environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Design

  • Lead architectural projects from programming and concept design through construction administration.

  • Develop and coordinate design development and construction documents with a strong focus on clarity, constructability, and compliance.

  • Apply best practices related to life-safety, ADA accessibility, durability, and operational functionality, particularly for public-facing facilities.

Technical Coordination

  • Coordinate architectural scope with structural, civil, MEP, and surveying teams.

  • Support site development, stormwater and drainage coordination, and agency review requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with local and state codes, zoning, and permitting standards.

  • Participate in QA/QC reviews to maintain high technical standards.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a key point of contact with municipal clients, consultants, and internal teams.

  • Support stakeholder meetings, agency reviews, and permitting processes.

  • Translate community and client needs into clear, buildable documentation.

Construction Phase Support

  • Conduct site visits and field observations.

  • Respond to RFIs, review submittals, and support construction administration.

  • Assist in resolving field conditions while maintaining design intent.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor junior architectural staff and support technical development.

  • Collaborate across disciplines and offices in a team-oriented environment.

  • Adapt to evolving project needs with flexibility and initiative.

Project Types

  • Cultural facilities (libraries, museums, cultural centers, performance venues)

  • Public safety facilities (fire stations, police, EMS, emergency operations)

  • Parks & greenspaces (park buildings, athletic facilities, trails, pedestrian bridges)

  • Municipal and civic buildings

Job requirements

  • Licensed Architect (RA)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture

  • 5+ years of professional architectural experience

  • Strong experience producing and coordinating construction documents

  • Proficiency in Revit

  • Solid understanding of building codes, zoning, and permitting

  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultants

Preferred

  • Municipal or state public-sector experience

  • Civic or public safety project exposure

  • Familiarity with sustainability frameworks (LEED, WELL, or similar)

  • Experience in integrated architecture + engineering environments
