Lamson Dugan & Murray is seeking a management-side Employment Attorney with approximately 3–5 years of experience to join our Omaha office and play a foundational role in building and leading the firm’s employment practice.

This is not a traditional associate role.

This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who wants direct client responsibility, meaningful autonomy, and the ability to grow into the go-to employment advisor for an established business client base within a respected mid-sized litigation firm.

You would be the firm’s primary employment attorney, working directly with senior partners while helping expand and shape the employment practice long term.

What You’ll Be Doing

Employment Litigation

  • Defend employers in employment-related litigation matters including:

    • discrimination

    • harassment

    • retaliation

    • wrongful termination

    • wage & hour disputes

  • Handle matters from initial strategy through resolution

  • Draft motions, manage discovery, take and defend depositions, attend mediations, and support trial preparation

Employment Counseling & Compliance

  • Advise employers on day-to-day employment law issues

  • Draft and review:

    • employee handbooks

    • workplace policies

    • employment agreements

    • separation agreements

  • Counsel clients on:

    • ADA/FMLA issues

    • employee discipline and termination

    • HR best practices

    • compliance with federal and state employment laws

Administrative & Agency Matters

  • Respond to and manage EEOC and state agency claims and investigations

  • Guide employers through pre-litigation employment disputes and risk management strategies

Practice Growth

  • Help build and expand the firm’s employment practice

  • Develop trusted relationships with existing firm clients

  • Work closely with firm leadership on long-term practice development

Job requirements

  • 3–5 years of management-side employment law experience

  • Experience handling BOTH:

    • employment litigation

    • employment counseling/compliance matters

  • Strong writing, communication, and client management skills

  • Ability to independently manage matters and communicate directly with clients

  • Licensed and in good standing (Nebraska licensure or ability to waive in preferred)

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience handling EEOC or state agency matters

  • Deposition and motion practice experience

  • Employee handbook and policy drafting experience

  • Mid-sized or regional law firm background

  • Interest in long-term partnership path and practice development

  • Plaintiff-side employment attorneys

  • Candidates whose experience is limited to research or supporting roles without direct client ownership
